Modesto Junior College offers a
variety of program services for the children of students, non-students,
staff, and faculty. The
services range from fully subsidized programs, which are free to the
participating families, to full fees paid by the participating families.
Age groups served include Infants
(6 weeks - 18 months) Toddlers (18 - 36 months) and Preschoolers
(2 years, 9 months - 5 years)
Children with special needs are
welcome in all of the programs.
MJC Child
Development Programs simultaneously provide a high-quality laboratory
setting for Child Development Students, and full and part day childcare
and development services for students and non-students.
Healthy snacks and meals are served at no cost to all enrolled children.
The teachers
in the program are trained early childhood professionals who hold the
appropriate state certification for their respective positions.
In addition to the regular staff, student teachers from the Child
Development Program work in each classroom.
At MJC we believe that children are
capable and competent. We
are committed to helping every child reach his/her potential in a
supportive and rich environment. We take pleasure at children's
curiosity, we appreciate persistence, and we recognize challenges as
opportunities for problem-solving.
We want children to explore, be resourceful, and become a caring
community of learners.
The environment and curriculum at MJC encourage
children to learn! Through
observation and documentation of children's activities and interactions,
teachers will collaborate with families to share each child's learning
experiences. Family members
are welcome and are invited to become active participants in the
learning community. Together,
we will work toward even better educational experiences for all
children, and for those who care for them.
