Chemistry professor Dr. Steve Murov ("Dr. Al Chemist") and singer
Rachel Hall present an entertaining evening of zany chemical experiments
and song demonstrating the excitement of science.
February 26:
“Life in Extreme Environments”
Dr. Penelope Boston talks about astrobiology and life in extreme environments.
Her research extends from deep caves on this planet to extraterrestrial
environments on Mars and beyond.
March 26: “Nuclear
Proliferation in a Hi-Tech World”
Dr. John Field examines several of the remaining technology barriers to
the development of nuclear weapons in the context of the current global
nonproliferation regime.
April 16:
“Water Processes in the Sierra Nevada”
Ryan Lucas will discuss how scientists use satellite and ground-based
sensors to understand the processes that control the Sierra Nevada Snowpack
and, therefore, our water supply.
