Introduction
The Six Pathways Guides
Volume III contains the six Curriculum Guides for the pathways in Agriculture. Since all of the guides followed the same framework and have numerous commonalties, they will not be individually reviewed here.
Guides Supplement State Curriculum
It is important to note that the guides are both introductory and supplemental to the State Department of Education Basic Core and Framework Curriculum Developed at the University of California at Davis. They do not replace that curriculum. The State curriculum is the one that should be procured and followed in Agricultural Education Tech Prep.
Curriculum Committees Focus
The six committees spent many hours linking targeted occupations and their dependent standards and activities to curriculum, linking integration of academics and agricultural curriculum, sequencing units of instruction, field-testing of curriculum, identifying and articulating appropriate community college courses including development of several pathway grid options, and various aspects of student assessment for Tech Prep.
Standardized Format
The first to be completed was the Ornamental Horticulture guide which set the standard for format and content. All Guides contain basically the same information but are specific to the given subject matter. Each guide, when used with the State Curriculum, can be a useful tool in establishing a tech prep pathway in Agricultural Education.
