A joint project between the California Department of Education
and Modesto Junior College Agriculture Division.

General Information

The Central Valley Consortium for Agricultural Education Tech-Prep (CVCAETP) was formed through a cooperative effort between the Stanislaus County Office of Education, Modesto Junior College, and secondary schools throughout central California. The initial funding in the amount of $750,000, extending from July 1993 through July 1995, was awarded through a competitive application for the development of an Agricultural Education Tech-Prep model for California.

The Consortium, organized into four divisions (Curriculum, Student Services, Staff Services, and Program Services), enlisted the services of the leaders of agricultural education from secondary and post-secondary institutions to assist in the development of the materials. Over 130 different individuals from over 50 High Schools, Colleges and Universities were involved. All guides have been reviewed and validated by the agriculture industry, a special school administrators' advisory committee, and the Consortium Articulation council.

The three volumes of materials are the result of a vast amount of commitment and involvement by the Central Valley Consortium staff, California agriculture educators, administrators and agricultural industry representatives. The Central Valley Consortium owes much gratitude to the many pioneers of Tech-Prep from throughout California and the nation whose ideas and materials contributed to the compilation of the 20 resource documents. The materials developed stand as a model for Agricultural Education Tech-Prep in California and the Nation.
