Abbreviations

The following abbreviations are used in grading.

Awk. – The underlined sentence is awkward. Something is wrong with this sentence.

Cap – You are missing a capital letter.

frag. – The sentence is a fragment. The sentence is missing a subject or verb.

huh? – I do not understand what you are saying. I can read the words, but it does not make sense.

HDYK – How do you know. You have not justified a statement.

IC – Incomplete. You did not completely answer the question. Often I will underline the part of the question you did not answer.

IS – Incomplete sentence. Similar to a frag.

Ob - Observation, may be missing or you may be stating a conclusion when you should be stating an observation.

NA - not answered.  

NB - not balanced.  Your chemical equation is not balanced.

RO-Round off error.  You didn't round off a number correctly.

SF - Significant figures. +SF means too many and -SF means not enough.

Sp – Word is misspelled.

U - Units are missing.

Underlined text - If I underline your text and mark with a "?" then I cannot read it and it must be wrong.  

"Do not copy of let you work be copied" - This is written on the two or more people who have shared work. The copied work will have " quote marks around the copied work". This is usually accompanied by a zero for the assignment.
