Barbara Jensen earned her MA degree in Composition and Rhetoric from California State University, Stanislaus in 1990. She continued on to acquire an added concentration in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), completing her TESOL Certificate from CSUS in 1995. She has experience teaching preschool, elementary school, and high school and has taught at MJC since 1987. In the early 90's, Ms. Jensen began directing and teaching in the MJC Writing Center. In this capacity she started the nation's first tutor-mentor program, which continues to be a model for other such programs at the university and community college level. Ms. Jensen loves her work in the MJC Writing Center because of the sense of bonding and community the Writing Center's environment inspires.
