Dan Martin received his B.A. degree in English Literature from the University of California at Santa Barbara. His M.A. in TESL is from The University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana where he taught in the Intensive English Institute. He has taught overseas in Thailand, India and Japan.

He has taught all levels of credit ESL at Modesto Junior College. Recently he has been teaching ESL 70, English for Academic Purposes, a class for advanced ESL students who want to focus on world literature, write at a more sophisticated level and discuss various interpretations of the literature. He often teaches ESL 10, the beginning credit ESL class which introduces basic reading, writing and grammar while developing speaking and listening skills. Other classes he prefers to teach are: ESL 43, the intermediate conversation, pronunciation and accent reduction class; ESL 47, the advanced grammar class; and ESL 48, the advanced reading and composition class   He often teaches an intermediate/advanced non-credit ESL class, ESL 904, during the summer session.

He enjoys reading, traveling, photography and gourmet cooking.
