Where can I go to get extra help?
There are several places on campus where individual tutoring is available:
1.
There are 2 tutoring centers: East Campus - Room 10,
Library Basement; West Campus Tutoring - Rm.
118, Yosemite Hall. You must
pre-register at the center. You are then
eligible to sign up for as many as 3 hours of tutoring each week at a
prearranged time (usually in groups of 2 or 3).
2.
Drop-In Tutoring, formerly available in Founders 128C, is being
relocated (fall location TBA). There is
usually a tutor on duty during the day on most days. However, depending on how many students are
in line, there may be a wait.
3.
There is on-line tutoring on the web, which you can access
through "Online Tutoring
Sites" here or on the main menu.
Caution: Some sites require that
you register your name and e-mail address.
As with many web sites, you may receive unwanted junk e-mail.
4. You may sign the phone list for study groups, which will enable you to make contact with other members of the class.
5. I am available for help by appointment. Otherwise, short questions can be answered before or after class or during the break (if there is one).
6. For Math 70, 71, and 72, I have put a copy of the student solutions manual (with fully worked out solutions to odd-numbered problems) on reserve at the West campus library. You can also purchase your own copy at the bookstore.
7. The text for Math 70, 71, and 72 comes bundled with an access code which gives access to many resources, including phone tutoring, online tutoring, video lectures, and extra exercises for practice. You will need to get the course code from me in class. The access code is effective for 1 year from the date when you first register. Used texts may have an access code which may have several months of use remaining.
