The Political Science Department strives to have students
connect political science theory to current political problems. We teach
courses in each of the major subfields of political science: American
Politics, International Relations, Political Theory, and Comparative
Politics. Classes on the U.S. Constitution and California Politics are also
frequently offered. The Department recently launched a new Internship program
designed to provide students with practical experience in politics. Many of
our majors transfer to four-year colleges and universities, and a degree in
political science prepares one for professions in areas such as government,
law, teaching, lobbying, and nonprofit service.
