WHEREAS,

Currently, only math and English completions are entered into the MIS from student transcripts from other colleges, and

WHEREAS,

a decision to place a computerized stop on students who do not have the required prerequisite attempting to enroll in a course, other than math or English, would also stop those students who have completed the prerequisite at another institution;

THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED that the following the installation of the new District MIS,Academic Senate encourages faculty to request that the computer data system District MIS stop students from enrolling in their courses who have not completed the prerequisite course.

THEREFORE,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate encourages all faculty and the counseling staff to alert students of this significant change and to encourage all students to make sure that all coursework taken at other colleges be sent to the Records Office. The transcript review office must establish procedures to ensure that that college coursework taken at other colleges be expeditiously added to the computer data system so that these students will not be blocked from courses in which they possess the prerequisite skills.
